Early Head Start is an intensive and comprehensive program to support children ages 0 to 3, as well as pregnant mothers. Serving dozens of infants and mothers annually, Grace Hill’s Early Head Start program creates a continuum of early childhood education options for families across the region through center and home-based programming.
Grace Hill’s Early Head Start program impacts the larger community by connecting parents and families to the highest quality education and health resources. Grace Hill offers Early Head Start services while being mindful of a child’s future — as children grow and develop, staff and parents work together to build a strong and individualized transition plan ensuring the child’s success in Head Start and Kindergarten.
Early Head Start is designed to:
- Improve health outcomes for pregnant women and newborns by providing access to health screenings, home visiting programs, and additional health resources.
- Enhance the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of very young children, while promoting parents as their child’s first educator.
- Provide access to additional community resources — such as adult education, health and wellness services, and economic development opportunities — that foster strong family development in the St. Louis region.
